BIG SPRING -- A major explosion of unknown origin rocked the Alon refinery on Interstate 20 this morning around 8:15. Emergency responders near the scene of the massive fire report that officials do not know the cause of the blast that shook homes and businesses in Big Spring and the surrounding area.
 As a precautionary measure, Big Spring ISD officials have dismissed classes for the day. Emergency responders on the scene are reporting one injured person has been airlifted to an area hospital. Four other injuries have been reported. Information will be added to this story as it becomes available from Big Spring city officials at the scene.
